Tameside Council is pioneering a unique and innovative approach to digital infrastructure. Through the Tameside Digital Infrastructure Cooperative (TDIC) we are working closely with public and private-sector partners to build and share a range of services such as fast broadband and Wifi, colocation of servers and data storage/back up. Successful leveraging of this digital infrastructure will allow us to achieve a number of the priorities agreed in our Corporate Plan 2018-25, including; attracting inward investment and supporting local businesses to start and grow, equipping our young people with the skills to navigate a digital economy, and reducing the demand on council services.

Agilisys is proud to sponsor the 2020 LGC “Digital Impact” award, which recognises the visionary use of digital technology and the significant improvements it’s made for citizens whilst meeting the dual challenges of continued funding cuts and ever-increasing expectations and demand. The award celebrates innovation, ground-breaking collaboration between local agencies and partners, and overall effective use of technology and data to transform an area. We are an employee owned organisation, who for over two decades have been working with local authorities to deliver successful outcomes through innovative solutions and transformation expertise.

This award is open to a single council or where appropriate a partnership of councils, or a council-owned company. Private sector partners can enter on a council’s behalf, with the permission of the council itself. This award will go to the council that can best show how its farsighted use of digital technology is significantly improving outcomes for its residents and/or place. It is not primarily for a council that can show it has systematically transformed its approach to technology, or has devised as solution for a specific area of its work, but it is for a council that can demonstrate how its digital acumen is transforming its local area, for instance with regards to the effectiveness of key services and how they support residents. Among the attributes you may seek to showcase in your entry are the benefits of data sharing; how your organisation is ensuring it supports people before they fall into crisis; and how ground-breaking collaboration between local partners has had a significant impact on your local population.
